Big Size ISP : High Cost Saving
Result
International backbone line is really expensive. Increasing capacity of bandwidth costs immense. One of the big ISPs decided to manage their P2P traffic. To select proper equipment, they tested the performance of several vendors' products for several months. ARA-PPTM's competitors are P-cube, Sandvine and Ellacoya.
After several months later, they select ARA-PPTM based on the performance test result in real network. Currently, they can save more than 2G bandwidth by using PPTM, and their backbone upgrade doesn't require anymore.

Result
P2P traffic appears and fades away continuously. One of costumers has already used ARA-PPTM. There is some change of P2P protocol. So, ARA Networks provides update protocol for them. After updating P2P protocol, the peak outbound traffic decreases 200M as 600M to 400M. ARA Network can continuously provide active technical support for customers

Problem
One of customers had expanded their bandwidth. However, traffic increases day by day. In the short time, their network bandwidth was full. They did not know what the matter was. ARA Network installed ARA-PPTM to their network. They could find out the source of the matter. P2P traffic takes big part of their traffic.
Measure
Traffic management is made by subscribers' Internet use tendency. Web traffic is a lot from 6PM to 2AM. Because P2P protocols have the highest priority, Web users could feel slow Internet Web surfing. So, administrator limited P2P traffic for Web traffic peak hour. When Web traffic is low, he allowed P2P at night.
Result
They can save bandwidth around 50~100M by managing P2P traffic on schedule,
Solutions by Network Structure
If traffic management equipment is applied in network as inline method, it has great defects. Once equipment is failed, whole network is going to be shut down. Also, placing two devices for fail-over purpose is requiring twice cost. To increase performance of inline equipment, packet delay and packet loss are inevitable.
Fail-Over
ARA-PPTM uses tap device(Packet Mirroring). Once tap device is applied between routers, or between router and switch, there is no risk of network failure. Applying tap device in the network takes 1~5minutes.
Asymmetric Network
In asymmetric network, ARA-PPTM is proper solution. In case of inline equipment, they should install two devices. ARA-PPTM can manage two lines one at a time. For more information, contact here.
